Here at Ignite we can offer you the opportunity to learn in a different environment from school or college.

During the course you will be involved in a range of activities,  sessions and challenges that will help you gain your City & Guilds qualification as well as develop your personal, employability and life skills.

There is also a Fire Service  aspect to the course in which you will take part in a range of firefighting, fire safety and community safety activities. .

Who is it for?: Anyone who is 16 - 18 years old and wants to get on in life.  Can be 19 if 18 on 1st September 2015)

Qualifications Gained: City & Guilds Diploma in:

  • Employability Skills

  • English & Maths

  • Additional certificates for short courses

Get paid for learning: Each student is entitled to apply for a bursary from our partner Sunderland College.  You will also receive all of your travel expenses for attending Ignite.

In order to gain your City & Guilds Diploma in Employability Skills you will be working on a range of units. The units are a good mix of employability, wellbeing and life skills that will help you reach that next step in your life.

On starting the Ignite programme you will also take part in a diagnostic assessment for Maths and English and then work towards gaining a City & Guilds Qualification in Maths and English.   

During the course you will take part in ‘2’ team building residential trips. The first in the new year then again ‘once you have completed your qualification’. 

You will take part in a range of fire safety and firefighter activities, fire behaviour and anti-social        behaviour awareness sessions during the Ignite course, working alongside trained firefighters and   experienced staff. 

There will also be a range of activities, sports and fitness sessions throughout your Ignite programme that will link into the qualification and help you try new experiences. 

You will also take part in a work placement as part of your qualification. You will be required to do a 1 or 2 week placement. This can be something that you are interested in doing in the future or something you might  like to try.
