New Names for Tyne and Wear Community Fire Stations

With the demise of the Regional Control Centre Project in December 2010 and the non-adoption of national call signs as part of the Collaborative Control and Mobilising Project a further review of both station names and call signs was undertaken.

The new names, listed below, also clearly illustrate the local authority area in which the stations serve.

Gateshead

• Gateshead North Community Fire Station at Swalwell becomes Swalwell
  

• Gateshead East Community Fire Station at Shipcote becomes Gateshead
  

• Gateshead South Community Fire Station at Birtley becomes Birtley
  

• Gateshead West Community Fire Station at Chopwell becomes Chopwell
  

Newcastle

• Newcastle North Community Fire Station at Gosforth becomes Gosforth
  

• Newcastle East Community Fire Station at Byker becomes Byker
  

• Newcastle South Community Fire Station at Rye Hill becomes Newcastle Central
  

• Newcastle West Community Fire Station at West Denton becomes West Denton
  

North Tyneside

• North Tyneside East Community Fire Station at North Shields becomes Tynemouth
  

• North Tyneside South Community Fire Station at Wallsend becomes Wallsend
  

South Tyneside

• South Tyneside East Community Fire Station at South Shields becomes South Shields
  

• South Tyneside West Community Fire Station at Hebburn becomes Hebburn
  

Sunderland
