Letterbox Locks

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service have attended a number of fires where the cause has been lit objects pushed thruogh the letterbox.

To combat this growing problem Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service came up with an initative where a lock can be placed on the letterbox to stop unwanted objects being placed through letterboxes, objects such as burnt papers, fireworks etc.  There are two main parts to the lock, one bar that gets screwed to the door to secure the unit and another bar that can be moved to either an upright (open) position or on a right angle (locked) position.
