Based at Newcastle West Community Fire Station
I found out about the position through a friend. They thought the position would be ideal for me with my experience working within the community.
Although based at my local Fire Station, I work much of the time within the community. My role involves liaising with various community groups to promote home fire safety, creating partnerships with local organisations, organising and promoting events with the fire service to engage with hard to reach groups within the community and delivering safety talks at schools within the BME community.
The best thing about working within the Fire Service is being part of a brilliant team whose aim is to help and educate people. I was welcomed and accepted as a valuable team member. Since starting my role, the Fire Service has really helped me to develop myself, encouraging me to attend courses that have assisted in my personal and professional development.
There are so many opportunities to progress within the Service and I can’t see myself moving away from the organisation. The advice and support available is second to none.
