Each year, as part of our risk management and planning process, we prepare a Strategic Plan that summarises our improvement aims and objectives for the next 5 years. This also includes the specific targets for the coming year. To give this added focus, these targets have been assigned to each station area and have been included in a Station Plan. This plan also provides information about the station itself, the risks associated with the station area and the specific problems encountered last year (existing performance), for example, the number of dwelling fires. Finally, the plan includes the improvement aims for the current year and an outline of the actions to be taken. All types of action are covered including those carried out by the fire crews, our Community Safety department and partnerships such as the Arson Task Force.
